What a great weekend we had!
Saturday morning we were up bright and early (no change there!) and went swimming at our local JJB (by bike I might add!) Ben is really becoming confident in the water now (after being terrified for such a long time) and managed to swim a whole length by himself (with armbands). The boys were both so good that we decided a treat at Starbucks was in order after our swim. So much for all the calories I had worked off riding to the pool & swimming!
Saturday afternoon we went 10-pin bowling. I had promised Ben that we would go some time in the holidays, but I had done nothing about it. Then out of the blue the bowling alley send him a letter saying they have made him a member of the Bowlclub and sending him some money off vouchers. Two games of bowling for £5 each is too good a bargain to miss, so I booked up and we finally got there! We came home to home made pizza for dinner - I've never tried pizza dough before, but it was a breeze using the breadmaker! By making Sam's with Nomato sauce he was able to have a pizza too.
Sunday morning dawned bright and very early. My sister & her partner were joining us for the Npower Festival of the Future at the Science Museum in Wroughton, but had got her times muddled up and arrived on our doorstep at 8.15am. Judi nearly killed her when I said they didnt have to be here until 9.15am (they had left my parents at around 7.30am and Judi doesn't do mornings!!) After several cups of strong coffee & packing a picnic, we set off and arrived to find that it was already quite busy. We managed to locate the Geocaching stand and grabbed the co-ordinates of the new cache that had been published especially for the day. After a morning caching, we enjoyed our picnic lunch whilst watching Robocop strutting his stuff around the site! After ice creams and a lot of Geocoin spotting we headed home, stopping to grab another cache on the way.
Monday was spent celebrating our friend David's 30th birthday, with an excellent party at St Francis vicarage - thanks to Beth for allowing the use of her garden. We had some lovely food (thanks to Mike and Anthony for cooking) and rather a lot of Pimms was consumed. Even though we had the boys with us, we didn't leave until 10.00pm! Yes, we were the last to leave and yes, we had had even more to drink by then, which probably contributed to the hysterical laughter while reading Adrian Plass' cracking book "Bacon Sandwiches and Salvation - An A-Z of the Christian Life". I can thoroughly recommend this book if you need a laugh.
All in all a lovely weekend and amazingly for a UK bank holiday - no rain!!
